![]() And while this album adds on to the great year music has been having in 2020, I’m still ready for the year to end just like the rest of us.įuture and Lil Uzi Vert’s collaborative project Pluto x Baby Pluto is out now on all streaming platforms.Symere Bysil Woods (born July 31, 1995), known professionally as Lil Uzi Vert, is an American rapper and singer. We got 2 bodies of work from Future this year and 3 from Uzi, I can’t complain. I really like this album, it’s not WATTBA caliber but on first listen I think it has a chance to be better than his young Thug collaborative project Super Slimey and I already think it’s better than his collaborative project with Juice WRLD titled WRLD On Drugs. I remember people saying Watch The Throne was underwhelming when it first came out, the fact of the matter is that no matter what the collab album sounds like it will rarely ever meet the initial expectations of certain listeners because the expectations are too high. because of the ridiculously high expectations only for people to backtrack on those opinions in time. This is a really good project, it will obviously be flooded with comments of it being “mid” etc. So without further ado let’s get into this project… ![]() Those same people now tell me that WATTBA is a classic and one of the best collab albums of all time, the key is to come into these projects with as little expectations as possible. Collaborations albums between artists are tricky because the expectations are always ridiculously high, I remember when WATTBA originally came out and I saw people say they were expecting more than what they got. ![]() So, of course when I caught news of the tape coming out I was still excited. With that being said, these are still two of my favorite artists with Future being one of my favorite artists ever. Ironically, I haven’t been the biggest fan of some of the previous Future and Lil Uzi collaborations because of the beat selection on those collabs. On paper, this latest collaboration makes sense. He’s got collaboration projects with Gucci Mane, Drake, Young Thug, Juice WRLD, and now Lil Uzi Vert. I can’t think of anyone that’s done more collaboration albums as a mainstream act. They’ve had a couple of songs together in the past such as Too Much Sauce, Seven Million, Wassup, All Bad, and their two singles leading up to this project Patek & Over Your Head.įuture’s had a pretty legendary collaboration album run. As a trap artist himself, it only makes sense for the modern day trap god Future to collaborate with him. Now if we can just get a new Carti album… anyways, Uzi has ascended to being one of the top acts in music. Prior to this, he was involved in label controversy and was relatively quiet from 2017-2019 after his debut album LUV Is Rage 2 released. Uzi’s had an impressive year and is definitely in the conversation for rap MVP of 2020. The only artists that I can think of that can match Uzi’s output this year is NBA Youngboy and Curren$y. With this latest collab album with Future, that pushes Lil Uzi’s album count to 3 albums this year. The consensus in rap right now is that Lil Baby has had the best 2020, but clearly Lil Uzi has something to say about that. We’ve had a strong year from R&B acts such as Kehlani along with the rise of some younger artists such as Lil Baby. In what many would say is the worst year of recent memory, the music of 2020 has been really strong.
